Summoning Spring
I don’t know why but I woke up with spring on my mind, hence the poppy pin…my way of summoning spring! I taught all day, and while black and red is a pretty common combination, combining a somewhat informal peasant skirt with a more formal blazer seemed unusual enough to try. Overall, I liked the results!
I highlighted the black elements with black flats and a black bag, and accented it with the black and silver jewelry and sunglasses. It ended looking polished but comfortable, and I was felt pretty comfortable all day. On a different day, I may have paired it with heels, naturally, but when I have to be on my feet for 8 hours, that is not an option!
This is an easy outfit to replicate with your own pieces. If you wear a circle skirt or anything wide, be sure to pair it with a shorter and fitted blazer to keep the proportions balanced. Also, and since the skirt and the blazer had patterns, I kept the sweater very simple. I often feel that work attire that features blazers tend to look a bit too formal, but pairing it with a circle or gathered skirt give it a feminine twist while keeping it polished enough for the office. - Perfume: So de la Renta, (here) Many people ask me the kind of perfume I wear. This has been my signature scent for quite a while. I find that it is both fresh and flirty, light and feminine, and very classic. When I looked online, I was pleasantly identified by the description in the Oscar de la Renta site: “For the spontaneous, energetic woman who spreads her enthusiasm everywhere she goes. A radiant, sparkling scent.” And also, “So de la Renta revels in the elegant, unexpected, playful side of the Oscar woman.”
No se por qué, pero me levanté pensando en la primavera, de ahi mi broche de amapola…una forma de decirle que se apure! Tenía clase todo el dia, y aunque combinar rojo con negro es bastante común, combinar una falda campestre relativamente informal con una chaqueta tipo sastre mas formal me pareció una combinación inusual para probar. En conjunto, me gustó el resultado!
Destaqué los elementos negros usando zapatillas y el bolso en ese color, y lo acentué con los toques negros de la joyería y los lentes/gafas de sol. El resultado se ve pulido pero cómodo y asi me sentí todo el dia. Para otra ocasión, probablemente me hubiera puesto zapatos de tacón, pero teniendo que estar de pie durante 8 horas, esa no era una opción viable!
Ésta es una combinación fácil de replicar con tus propias piezas. Si decides ponerte una falda de vuelo, asegúrate de combinarla con una chaqueta tipo sastre mas bien corta y entallada para mantener el balance en las proporciones. En este caso como la falda y la chaqueta no son lisas, mantuve el suéter muy sencillo y de un color sólido. A menudo pienso que las chaquetas sastre típicas de trabajo tienden a lucir un poco demasiado formales, pero el combinarla con una falda mas avuelada, le dio un toque femenino que siguió siendo lo suficientemente pulido para usar en la oficina. Que te parece?

- Perfume: So de la Renta, (aqui) Mucha gente me pregunta qué perfume uso. Ésta ha sido mi fragancia por bastante tiempo. Encuentro que es fresca y coqueta, ligera y femenina, y muy clásica. Cuando busqué la descripción en la página de Oscar de la Renta, quedé gratamente identificada con lo que decía: “Para la mujer espontánea y energética que reparte su entusiasmo dondequiera que va. Una fragancia radiante y chispeante.” Y también, ”So de la Renta se deleita en el lado elegante, inesperado y divertido del tipo de mujer que representa Oscar de la Renta.”
