I built this outfit around the red piping of the striped sweater. The first thing I knew I would add was the antique West German brooch/pin, and the next thing was the black and white gingham. From there, the other elements fell organically. Although I think the brooch is an apple blossom, in this particular outfit, it reminds me of a cherry blossom. Besides, mixing red and black always reminds me of cherries…maybe that’s it!

Field of Greens

I’ve shared before that green is my favorite color, so it should be no surprise that I don’t fear an all-green outfit. The key, in my opinion, is to mix different shades—from hunter green to turquoise, in this case—to avoid looking like Kermit. Also, try adding darker, sensible colors to add interest, like I did with the burgundy-brown of the belt, and the metallic gray of the jewelry.
